Nebraska Dental Hygienists Increase Access to Oral Health Care for Children

A new law will take effect January 1, 2018 to change the scope of practice for Registered Dental Hygienists in the State of Nebraska. These updates to the Dental Hygiene Practice Act will help meet the needs of underserved populations and improve access to oral health care for many of Nebraska's youngest residents. Vision Screening at Schools Begin

 As students go back to school, Building Healthy Futures staff are getting back to screening! It is exciting to begin vision screening once again with students attending Omaha Public Schools. To date this fall, 3,000 students have been screened at six schools. Lending their support to the screening process are nursing students from Nebraska Methodist College, Clarkson College, College of Saint Mary, Creighton University, and UNMC.
